Charbay Green Tea Aperitif
My apologies for the lack of posts recently. Life has been sort of in upheaval. The fiancee and I are moving from New York City to Washington, D.C. soon. Do not worry though! More posts will be coming shortly and much more frequently once the dust of the move settles. We have also been busy traveling quite a bit. A few months ago we took our yearly trip to Napa/Sonoma. While I love wine (which should not be a huge surprise) I wanted to visit Charbay this time around. Charbay is not only a winery but also a distillery! Unfortunately, because of California rules, we could not try the higher proof liquors in the tasting room. What we did get to try is their Green Tea Aperitif, which is a delicious blend of white wine, green tea, and brandy. It has a subtle sweetness to it and a light but somehow rich and deep green tea flavor. The result is an aperitif which is great just served over ice. However, while we were there, we also tried it topped off with lemon soda, specifically San Pellegrino Limonata. The cocktail was garnished with a Meyer lemon peel and it made for a perfect way to end our afternoon. We recreate the cocktail at home frequently now. It also works well with bitter lemon soda. I look forward to experimenting with the Green Tea Aperitif in future cocktails.
Needless to say, we picked up two bottles during our trip! And we will definitely be looking for more soon as we are already running low. I recommend finding any of Charbay's products if you can, but if you can find the Green Tea Aperitif then pick it up. You will not be disappointed!
Please note that Charbay did not provide me with any free product and my thoughts expressed here are entirely my own.
